3-17. EXTRACTOR DRIVE UNIT (CONT)
Do not rest drive unit on brake components or the brake solenoid.
Lay drive unit (7) on its side with fill plug (14) up to prevent oil from spilling.
Remove fill plug (14).
If oil is spilled, drain old oil and replace in accordance with LO 10-3510-209-12.
Too much or too little oil will result in damage to drive unit.
If 1000 hours have elapsed since last oil change, refer to LO-3510-209-12 and
Use feeler gage through fill hole and measure runner gap (15). Runner gap should be 0.090 inch (2.29 mm).
A runner gap that is too wide or too narrow will damage drive unit and motor.
Adjust runner gap.
Remove rubber shaft seal (16).
Loosen four setscrews (17) on shaft nut (18).
Loosen or tighten shaft nut (18). Tighten nut to widen the runner gap. Loosen nut and strike shaft with
plastic hammer to make gap smaller.
Tighten four setscrews (17) on shaft nut (18).
Measure the runner gap to see if it changed. Adjust again if necessary.
Install rubber shaft seal (16).
Install fill plug (14).
If turbine oil was lost during adjustment, refer to LO 10-3510-209-12 for servicing.
