Section III. PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION
1-14. GENERAL. The Ancillary Equipment for Military Free-fall System is used on High Altitude Low Opening
(HALO) and High Altitude High Opening (HAHO) parachute operations. The equipment is to provide safety to
parachutists, a means of communication between parachutists and supporting aircraft, determination of
jump/opening altitude, and a means of lowering personal equipment prior to landing. The FF-2 release
automatically activates ripcord when altitude reaches that set in advance.
