c. Cleaning.
WARNING
Clean all parts in a well-ventilated
area. Avoid inhalation of solvent
fumes and prolonged exposure of
skin to cleaning solvent. Wash
exposed
skin
thoroughly.
Dry
cleaning solvent (Fed. Spec. P-D-
680) used to clean parts is potentially
dangerous
to
personnel
and
properly. Do not use near open
name or excessive heat. Flash point
of solvent is 100 to 138F. (38 to 59C.)
Clean metal parts with cleaning solver, Fed. Spec
P-D-680, and dry thoroughly.
d. Inspection and Repair.
(1) Inspect all parts for wear and damage.
(2) Use replacement kit to replace parts that
are damaged, defective or excessively scored or worn If
replacement of parts is not practical, replace pump.
e. Assembly.
(1) Install the packing (24, fig. 5-12), spring
(23), gasket (22) and plug (21 ) in the pump body (25).
(2) Install the gasket (20), plug (19), gasket
(18) and nut (17).
(3) Install the gasket (16), port (15) and
shaft (14).
(4) Install the seal (13), packing (12), spring
washer (11), seal (10), packing (9) onto shaft and secure
with snapring (8).
(5) Install the gear set (7) and plate (6) and
secure with screws (5).
(6) Install the strainer (4).
(7) Install the gasket (3) and cover (2) and
secure to pump body (25) with capscrews (1).
(8) Install by-pass plug (26) with 3/16 inch
hex head wrench.
f. Installation. Refer to figure 5-5 and install the
fuel pump.
5-4. Water Heater Burner Blower and Motor
a. Removal. Refer to figure 5-10 and remove
the burner blower and motor.
b. Disassembly.
(1) Remove the cotter pin (1, fig. 5-13) and
washer (2) and remove the pin (3), washer (4) and
spring (5).
(2) Remove the shutter (6).
(3)
Remove
the
capscrews
(7)
and
lockwashers (8) and remove the bracket (9) and stop pin
(10).
(4) Remove the setscrew (11) and remove
the coupling ( 12).
(5) Remove the setscrew ( 13) and remove
the sheer ( 14).
(6) Remove the key ( 15).
(7) Tag and disconnect all electrical conduit
and wiring going to the motor.
(8) Remove the capscrews ( 16) and
lockwashers ( 17) securing the motor ( 18) and plate
(20) to the blower housing (21), then remove the screws
(19) securing plate (20) to motor.
