REAR DRUM BEARING REPLACEMENT --

INSTALLATION
1. Mate cover (38) with housing (24) then secure with six screws (36) and lock washers (37).
2. Install new bearing (33) into housing (24).
3. Measure and record clearance between top surface or rollers (39) and inside surface of outer race (40).
4. Slide dust seal (35) onto drive shaft (17).
5. Slide housing (24) with bearing (33) onto drive shaft (17).
6. Install retainer (31) on bearing (33).
7. Slide inner race (34) onto drive shaft (17).
8. Apply a generous coat of grease to surface of inner race (34) where bearing rides.
9. Thread spanner nut (32) onto drive shaft (17) until it contacts bearing.
10. Secure housing (24) to bearing support frame (16) with four screws (26), spacers (27), lock washers (28), and
nuts (29). Torque nuts to 550 FT LBS in a criss--cross manner.
11. Tighten spanner nut (32) until clearance has been reduced from dimension recorded in step 3 by 0.002 to
0.003 inches.
12. Tighten spanner nut (32) slightly to align notch (41) with tab (30) then bend tab over to secure spanner nut.
13. Pack bearing (33) with grease.
14. Slide cover (23) onto drive shaft (17).
15. Mate cover (23) with housing (24) the secure with four screws (20) and lock washers (21) .
16. Mate brackets (22) to cover (23) then install, but do not tighten, two screws (20) and lock washers (21).
17. Slide dust seal (24) onto drive shaft (17).
18. Install rear belt guard (15) onto bearing support frame (16) then secure with four screws (12), lock washers
(13), and flat washers (14),
19. Tighten screws (20) to secure brackets (22) to cover (23).
20. Install machine key (19) onto drive shaft (17).
21. Slide tapered bushing (10) onto drive shaft (17) and position at previously recorded dimension.
22. Install drum sheave (9) onto tapered bushing (10), then secure with three screws (8) and lock washers (9).
23. Tighten set screw (18) to secure tapered bushing (10) to drive shaft (17).
24. Loosen jam nuts (3) then unthread jacking screws (4) from jacking bosses (2).
25. Thread jacking screws (4) into drum frame (5) then tighten jam nuts (3).
26. Apply a bead of sealant to threads of plugs (1) then thread plugs into jacking bosses (2).
27. Install drive belt (WP 0117 00).
28. Install drum rotation sensor (WP 0118 00).
29. Lubricate rear bearing (TM 10--3510--221--10).
30. Use maintenance menu to test drum rotation (WP 0010 00). Ensure drum rotates freely and smoothly.
31 Perform a test laundry cycle (TM 10--3510--221--10). Verify normal operation.
