Cleaning.
WARNING
Clean all parts in a well-ventilated
area. Avoid inhalation of solvent
fumes and prolonged exposure of
skin to cleaning solvent. Wash
exposed
skin
thoroughly.
Dry
cleaning solvent (Fed. Spec. P-D-
680) used to clean parts is potentially
dangerous
to
personnel
and
property. Do not use near open
flame or excessive heat. Flash point
of solvent is 100 to 138°F. (38 to
59°C).
Clean all metal parts with cleaning solvent, Fed.
Spec. P-D-680, and dry thoroughly.

Inspection and Repair.
(1)
Inspect
all
parts
for
wear
and
damage.
(2)
Use replacement kit to replace parts
that are damaged, defective, or excessively scored or
worn. If replacement parts is not practical, replace
pump.

Assembly.
(1)
Install the packing (24, fig. 3-13),
spring (23), gasket (22) and plug (21 ) on the pump body
(25).
(2)
Install the gasket (20), plug (19),
gasket (18) and nut (17) on the pump body (25).
(3)
Install the gasket (16) and port (15).
(4)
Install the shaft (14), then install the
seal (13), packing (12), spring washer ( 1), seal (10),
packing (9) and snapring (8).
(5)
Install the gear set (7) and plate (6)
and secure with screws (5).
(6)
Install the strainer (4).
(7)
Install the gasket (3) and cover (2)
and secure with capscrews (1).
(8)
Install by-pass plug (26) with 3/16 inch
hex head wrench.

Installation.
(1)
Install the fuel pump (I 11, fig. 3-12)
and secure with lockwashers (10) and capscrews (9).
(2)
Install the adapter (8).
(3)
Install the nipple (7) and reducer (6).
(4)
Install the nipple (5), coupling (4) and
elbow (2 and 3).
(5)
Reconnect the fuel lines (1).

Tumbler Air Heater
a.
Removal.
(1)
Remove the bolts (1, fig. 3-14) and
lockwashers (2) securing the air heater to the dryer-
tumbler.
(2)
Support the tumbler air heater using a
suitable hoist, then remove nuts (3), lockwashers (4)
and bolts (5), securing the strut (6) to the trailer.
(3)
Using hoist, remove the tumbler air
heater (7) from the dryer-tumbler.
