Cleaning.
WARNING
Clean all parts in a well-ventilated
area. Avoid inhalation of solvent
fumes and prolonged exposure of
skin to cleaning solvent. Wash
exposed
skin
thoroughly.
Dry
cleaning solvent (Fed. Spec. P-D-680)
used to clean parts is potentially
dangerous
to
personnel
and
property. Do not use near open
flame or excessive heat. Flash point
of solvent is 100 to 138F. (38 to 59C.).
Clean items with cleaning solvent, Fed. Spec. PD-
680, and dry thoroughly.

Inspection and Repair.
(1)
Inspect the washer cylinder for cracks,
dents, warpage and other damage.
(2)
Straighten dents, and weld cracks or
breaks.
e.
Assembly. Install the tie rods (3, fig. 7-5)
and secure with washers (2) and nuts I1).
f.
Installation.
(1)
Using a suitable lifting device, install
the cylinder (4, fig. 7-4) into the washer-extractor.
(2)
Secure the cylinder (4) with lockplate
(3), lockwasher (2) and allen head screw (1).

Drain Valve, Drain Valve Cylinder and Controls
a.
Removal and Disassembly.
(1)
Back-off nuts and remove the tube
assemblies (1 and 2, fig. 7-6).
(2)
Remove the elbow (3) and adapter (4)
from the cam lever housing (16).
(3)
Remove the cotter pins (5) and
remove the pin (6) connecting the drain valve operating
lever (29) and air cylinder assembly (37).
(4)
Remove the drain lever (7), then
remove the nut (8) and knob (9) from lever.
(5)
Remove
the
nuts
(10)
and
lockwashers (11) and screws (12) and remove the shaft
support (13).
(6)
Remove the capscrews (14) and
lockwashers (15) and remove the cam lever housing
(16) and gasket (17).
(7)
Remove the lever support (18), then
remove the pin (19) and drain dog (20) from the shaft
(30).
(8)
Remove
the
screws
(21)
and
lockwashers (22) and remove the cover (23) and gasket
(24) from the cam lever housing (16).
(9)
Remove the pin (25) and setscrew
(26) and remove the cam lever (27).
(10)
Remove the pins (28) and remove the
drain valve operating lever (29) from the shaft (30).
(11)
Remove the setscrew (31) and nut
(32).
(12)
Remove the capscrews (33) and
lockwashers (34) securing the bracket (35).
(13)
Remove the pin (36) securing the air
cylinder assembly (37) to bracket (35).
(14)
Remove the oil cup (38, fig. 7-6,
sheet 2 of 2) from upper head (43).
(15)
Remove setscrew (39) and screw the
yoke (40) from the shaft; remove washer (41).
(16)
Remove the setscrew (42) and turn
the upper head (43) off the cylinder.
(17)
Unscrew the lower head (44) from the
cylinder.
(18)
Remove gaskets (45) from cylinder
(46).
(19)
Disassemble the rod (54). Remove
nut (47), retainer (48), and seal (49); remove screws
(50) and retainer (51). Remove pad (52) and collar (53)
from rod (54).
(20)
Remove
the
screw
assembled
washers (55, fig. 7-6, sheet 3 of 3) and clamp (56)
securing the tube assembly.
(21)
Disconnect the tube assembly (57)
and remove tubing (58) and nut (59).
(22)
Remove elbow (60) from body.
(23)
Remove adapter (61).
(24)
Remove the lever guide assembly
(62).
(25)
Remove the screws (63) and washers
(64) securing the body, and remove body (65).
(26)
Remove fitting (66) from body.
