Cleaning. Clean all parts of the main
hearing assembly, using clean fuel oil and dry
thoroughly.

Inspection and Repair.
(1)
Inspect the housing and shaft for
cracks, nicks, burrs and other damage.
(2)
Inspect all seals, packing' and gaskets
for cracks, tears and pits.
(3)
Inspect
all
hardware
for
thread
damage.
(4)
Replace all damaged parts.
d.
Assembly and Installation.
(1)
Install the plugs (37 and 38, fig. 7-23)
on the main bearing housing (39).
(2)
Install packing (35 and 36).
(3)
Assemble the front shaft components.
Install shaft (34), cup (33), cone and roller (32), washer
(31), wear ring (30), and seal (29).
(4)
Position a new front seal gasket (28).
(5)
Install the retainer on the housing and
secure it with washers (26) and screws (25).
(6)
Assemble the rear components on the
shaft. Install cup (24), bearing (23), washer (22), key
(21), seal (20), wear ring (19), washer (18), and locknut
(17).
(7)
Position a new rear seal gasket (16).
(8)
Install retainer (15) and secure it with
washers (14) and screws (13).
(9)
Install key (12).
(10) Install the main bearing asr ?mbly and
secure the assembled unit with washers (10) and screws
(9).
(11) Install the drop elbow (8) and secure it
with washers (7) and screws (6).
(12) Install fitting (5) on elbow (8).
(13) Assemble the grease tubing (1).
Install housing (4), connector (3) and elbow (2).
7-16. Main Drive Belt Idler Pulley (EDRO Model
EP120-LTU Only)
a.
Removal.
(1)
Remove main drive belt guard. Refer
to TM 10-3510-208-12.
(2)
Remove drive belts. Refer to TM 10-
3510208-12.
(3)
Remove setscrews (1 and 2, fig. 7-
24) from the idler arm (9).
(4)
Remove idler pulley assembly (3)
from washer-extractor frame.
b.
Disassembly.
(1)
Remove lubrication fitting (4) from
end of idler pulley shaft.
(2)
Remove setscrew (5) and clamping
ring (6).
(3)
Remove hub (7) from idler arm shaft.
(4)
Unscrew idler arm shaft (8) from idler
arm (9).
(5)
Remove bearing (10) from hub (7).
c.
Cleaning.
WARNING
Clean all parts in a well-ventilated
area. Avoid inhalation of solvent
fumes and prolonged exposure of
skin to cleaning solvent. Wash
exposed
skin
thoroughly.
Dry
cleaning solvent (Fed. Spec. P-D-
680) used to clean parts is potentially
dangerous
to
personnel
and
property. Do not use near open
flame or excessive heat. Flash point
of solvent is 100 to 138F. (38 to 59C.)
Clean all parts (except bearing) in cleaning
solvent (Fed. Spec. P-D-680) and dry thoroughly.
d.
Inspection.
(1)
Inspect bearing for scoring, flat spots
or excessive wear.
(2)
Inspect threaded parts for thread
damage.
(3)
Inspect shaft, idler arm, and hub for
nicks, gouges -or other damage.
e.
Repair.
Replace damaged or defective parts as
required.
f.
Assembly.
(1)
Install bearing (10, fig. 7-24) in hub
(7).
(2)
Screw idler arm shaft (8) into idler
arm (9).
(3)
Slide hub (7) over shaft (8).
(4)
Install clamping ring (6) and secure
with setscrew (5).(5) Install lubrication fitting (4).
q.
Installation.
(1)
Install
assembled
idler
pulley
assembly (3) on washer-extractor frame and secure with
setscrews (1 and 2).
(2)
Install drive belts.
(3)
Adjust main drive belts. Refer to TM
10-3510-208-12.
(4)
Install main drive belt guard. Refer to
TM 10-3510-208-12.
