Cleaning.
(1)
Clean electrical parts using dry
compressed ail and a clean cloth.
WARNING
Clean all parts in a well-ventilated
area. Avoid inhalation of solvent
fumes and prolonged exposure of
skin to cleaning solvent. Wash
exposed
skin
thoroughly.
Dry
cleaning solvent Spec. P-D-680)
used to clean parts is potentially
dangerous
to
personnel
and
property. Do not use near open
flame of excessive heat. Flash point
t)of solvent is 100 to 138° F. (38 to
59' C).
(2)
Clean
the
metal
parts,
except
bearings, with cleaning solvent. Fed. Spec. P-D-680,
and dry thoroughly.
d.
Inspection and Repair.
(1)
Inspect the covers and housing for
cracks. dents, chips, and other damage.
(2)
Inspect the bearings for cracks, burrs,
and binding.
(3)
Inspect all other parts for damage.
(4)
Replacement of all damaged parts is
recommended.
e.
Assembly.
(1)
Install the base (16, fig. 3-4) onto the
housing
(17)
and
secure
with
flatwashers
(15),
lockwashers (14) and capscrews (13).
(2)
Install the washer (11), bearing (10)
and washer (9) on one end of armature (12) shaft and
washer (8), bearing (7), end spring (6) on the other end.
(3)
Install the armature unit into the
housing (17).
(4)
Install the shield (4), and end covers
(3 and 5) onto the housing (17) and secure with bolts (2)
and nuts (1).
f.
Installation. Refer to figure 3-3 and install
the tumbler drive motor.
3-4. Speed Reducer
a.
Removal.
(1)
Remove the screws (1, fig. 3-5)
securing the chain guard (2) to the dryer-tumbler, and
remove the chain from the dryer-tumbler.
(2)
Remove
the
nut
(3)
from
the
stabilizer.
(3)
Remove nuts (4), lockwashers (5),
flatwashers (6) and bolts (7) securing the tumbler speed
reducer (8) to the dryer-tumbler.
