OPERATOR INSTRUCTIONS
OPERATION UNDER USUAL CONDITIONS MMK CRAMPON

CAUTION
The extension bars are curved. The surface of the extension bar for the right foot
shows a graphic of a foot curving to the left. The surface of the extension bar for
the left foot shows a graphic of a foot curving to the right.
NOTE
Each pair of crampons comes preinstalled with an extension bar, designed to fit
footwear sizes 6-12. The crampons also come with a longer extension bar for
footwear sizes 13-14. Numbers on the extension bars do not correlate to boot
size.
1. Determine size of crampon needed (see NOTE above).
2. If necessary, switch out the preinstalled extension bar with the longer extension bar (Figure 1), using
the steps below; otherwise, skip to Step 3.
a. Pull up on locking tab (Figure 1), and separate toe section from heel section by pulling the sections
apart.

b. Push the extension bar forward, through the retaining slot in the toe portion of the crampon, to
remove the bar.
c. Install desired extension bar by threading it underneath the toe portion of the crampon, from front to
back, tail end first, ensuring that the extension bar passes through the plastic anti-snowballing plate,
as well as through both slots in the metal toe plate (Figures 2 and 3).
d. Pull up on the locking tab, and thread the extension bar through the slot in the heel section, ensuring
that the extension bar passes through the plastic anti-snowballing plate slot, as well as through the
metal heel plate slot (Figures 2 and 3).
