7-13. Air Brake Cylinder, Hub, Sheave and Related
Parts
a. Removal and Disassembly.
(1) Remove the capscrews (1, fig. 7-21)
lockwashers (2) and flatwashers (3) and remove the
brake assembly (4).
(2) Remove the spring (5), cotter pins (6),
slotted nuts (7) and studs (8) securing the air brake
cylinder (9).
(3) Remove the setscrews (10), nuts (11),
capscrews (12) and slotted washers (13) and remove
the brake stabilizer (14).
(4) Remove the cotter pins (15), slotted nuts
(16) and springs (17) and remove the brake shoes (18).
(5) Remove the rivets (19) and remove the
brake linings (20), if damaged.
(6) Remove the brake shoe pins (21) and
studs (22), if damaged.
(7) Remove the cotter pins (23) and pin (24)
and remove the brake levers (25 and 26) from the brake
support (27).
(8) Remove the capscrews (28) and
lockwashers (29) and remove the sheave pulley (30)
and hub (31).
