3-60. SPEED REDUCER.

a.
REMOVAL
(1)
Remove four screws (1), lockwashers (2), flat washers (3) and motor (4) from speed reducer (9).
(2)
Remove key (5).
(3)
Remove four screws (6), lockwashers (7) and flat washers (8).
(4)
Remove speed reducer (9).
(5)
Loosen setscrew (10) and remove sprocket (11) and key (12) from speed reducer (9).
(6)
If replacement of bracket (24) is required, remove two nuts (13), lockwashers (14), flat washer (15) and
screws (16).
(7)
Support bracket (24) and remove nut (17), flat washers (18), nut (19), flat washers (20) and return nuts
(21 and 22) from stud (23).
(8)
Remove bracket (24).

REPAIR
Repair consists of replacing damaged and/or missing components of the speed reducer.

INSTALLATION
(1)
If removed, position bracket (24) on dryer and install two screws (16), flat washers (15), lockwashers
(14) and nuts (13).
(2)
Position stud (23) in bracket (24) and install nuts (21 and 22), flat washers (20), nut (19), flat washers
(18) and nut (17).
(3)
Install key (12) and sprocket (11) on speed reducer (9).
(4)
Position speed reducer (9) on bracket (24) and secure with four flat washers (8), lockwashers (7) and
screws (6).
(5)
Align sprocket (11) on speed reducer (9) with drive sprocket (25) on trunnion, tapping it in or out on
shaft of speed reducer (9), as required.
(6)
When sprockets are aligned, tighten setscrew (10).
(7)
Position key (5) on shaft of motor (4) and install motor on speed reducer (9), securing it with four
lockwashers (2), flat washers (3) and screws (1).

Install roller chain (Para 3-72).
