The patrol pack is constructed of textured nylon duck cloth conforming to MIL-C-43734 (1), with a clear
polyurethane backing. The pack consists of two compartments and shoulder straps. The main compartment has
an inner pocket that contains a removable ¼-inch thick foam sheet conforming to MIL-R-6130 (2) as well as a
rigid plastic shield (3). The outside pocket has a 1 1/4-inch-wide tunnel around the top, containing a drawstring
conforming to MIL-C-5040G (4). The drawstring exits the tunnel through an eyelet conforming to MIL-E-20652 (5)
and is secured with a barrel lock conforming to ITW P/N 350-0000-5614 (6). 1-inch webbing conforming to MIL-
W-43668 (7) is used for attaching the shoulder straps to the pack, lateral restraining straps, side and rear
attachment, and hardware retention loops. 1-inch side release buckles conforming to drawing 5-10-47 (81337) (8)
are used for quick release of the lower shoulder straps, lateral restraining strap, and outside pocket closure
straps. Additional male and female buckle halves (8) are attached to the top and bottom of the pack, respectively.
The main compartment is closed with a black plastic continuous chain slide fastener conforming to PD-02-02 (9)
using a 7/16-inch reversible slide tab. A grommet MIL-G-16491F (10) is installed on the bottom panel of both
compartments to serve as a drain. The upper edge of the main compartment pocket, as well as the outside pocket
cover, and non-reflective slide-in name tag holder are secured with 1-inch binding tape conforming to MIL-T-5038
(11) using Size E Thread conforming to V-T-295 (12). Four 1-inch metal loops conforming to MIL-L-11075 (13)
are sewn to the upper pack panel, two of which serve as attachment points for the shoulder straps. Except as
indicated above, the patrol pack is constructed using Size F Thread conforming to V-T-295 (14). The handle is
constructed of 2-inch webbing conforming to MIL-W-4088 (15) with tabs on each side of the handle onto which 3-
inch lengths of 2-inch-wide hook fastener tape conforming to MIL-F-21840G (16) is sewn. The hook fastener
mates with a slotted piece of pile fastener of similar dimensions and specifications sewn to the shoulders of the
pack. Lengths of 1 23/32 -inch webbing conforming to PD-02-02 (17) are sewn crosswise to the inner pocket of the
main compartment and extend through slots in the nylon duck cloth (1) and pile fastener (16) at the shoulders.
The shoulder straps consist of two ½-inch thick single foam pads (18) that are covered with textured nylon duck
material (1). The slide fastener pull-tab is cut from 11/32-inch black nylon webbing conforming to MIL-B-371F
(19). Two eyelet/stud combinations conforming to MIL-F-10884 (20) are attached to the upper inside of the front
pocket. A nametag holder covered with 0.020 thick polyethylene conforming to L-P-378 (21) is located on the
back of the pack. The sternum strap can be adjusted with a 1-inch buckle conforming to drawing 5-10-47 (81337)
(8). Upper suspender adjustment is made with two 1-inch buckles conforming to drawing 2-6-101A (81337) (23).
The sternum strap is attached to the suspenders using 1-inch sternum buckles P/N SS25T (24).
