The hand grenade pouch is constructed from a single piece of textured nylon duck (1) that forms the pocket and
fold-over closure of the pouch, using Size F Thread (2). The closure and the top of the pocket are lined with
1-inch binding tape (3), using Size E Thread (4). At the end of the closure flap a button/socket type snap fastener
conforming to drawing 4-1-178 (81337) (5) is installed through the pull-tab. Two lengths of 1-inch webbing (6),
folded to enclose a 3-inch length of polyethylene (7), are sewn to the top of the pocket. Two snap fasteners (5)
are attached to the end of these straps. Two corresponding snap fastener studs are installed on the rear of the
pocket. A length of 1-inch webbing (6) is sewn to the back of the pouch and bartacked using Size E Thread (4) to
serve as attaching points. A length of 1-inch webbing (6) is also sewn across the inside of the pocket. The
grenade pocket is reinforced with textured nylon duck conforming to MIL-W-4088, Class 4 (10). A pull-tab of ¾-
inch-wide binding tape conforming to MIL-T-5038 (11) is sewn to the edge of the closure using Size E Thread (4).
A snap fastener eyelet/stud (5) is located on a 1-inch-wide strap (6) bartacked to the back of the pocket using
Size E Thread (4). An eyelet conforming to MIL-E-20652/1B (12) is installed on the bottom of the pocket to serve
as a drain.
The double magazine pouch, as well as the utility pouch are constructed similar to the hand grenade pouch,
except for dimensional, and the following specific differences: The double magazine pouch has three inch lengths
of 1-inch-wide hook fastener tape conforming to MIL-F-21840G (13) sewn to the inside of the cover. A similar
length of pile fastener tape (14) is sewn to the front of the pouch. In addition, three lengths of 1-inch webbing (6)
are sewn to the back of the pouch and bartacked at the center using Size E Thread (4). The utility pouch uses a
1-inch side release buckle conforming to Drawing 5-10-47 (81337) (16) as closure, that is secured to the front
cover of the pouch with ¾-inch webbing conforming to MIL-W-4088 (11). In addition, polyethylene material (17) is
sewn onto the insides of the pouch side panels. Two lengths of 1-inch webbing (6) are sewn to the back of the
pouch and bartacked at the center, using Size E Thread (4).
The 9mm magazine pouch is constructed similar to the hand grenade pouch, except for dimensional, and the
following specific differences: The 1-inch binding tape (3) extends all around the pouch and its opening. The front
of the pouch has pleats, with an eyelet conforming to MIL-E-20652/1B (12), instead of a grommet, installed at the
bottom as a drain. Two lengths of 1-inch webbing (6) are sewn to the back of the pouch and bartacked using Size
