The canteen pouch is constructed of textured nylon duck (1) using Size F Thread (2). The closure flap is edged
with 1-inch binding tape (3), using Size E Thread (4). Two small pockets are sewn to each side of the pouch that
close with 1-inch-wide hook (13) and pile (14) fasteners. The main pouch can be cinched with elastic cord
conforming to PD-02-02 (18) and barrel locks also conforming PD-02-02 (19). Loops of 11/32-inch webbing
conforming to MIL-B-371F (20) retain the barrel locks. The elastic cord exits the cord tunnel through two small
eyelets (12). A closure strap of 1-inch-wide webbing (6) secures the front of the pouch using a 1-inch side release
fastener conforming to drawing 2-6-239-1 (male) and 2-6-239-2 (female) (21). The closure strap is retained by a
keeper made of 1-inch webbing (6) and sewn to the closure flap. Vertical attachment straps made of 1-inch
webbing (6) and reinforced with polyethylene (7) are bartacked using Size E Thread (4) to the rear of the closure
straps. A separate length of 1-inch webbing (6) is sewn to the inside of the pouch as reinforcement. Snap fastener
eyelets (8) are installed at the end of the straps, which mate with studs (8), located on the pouch. Lateral
attachment straps made of 1-inch webbing (6) are bartacked to the back of the pouch using Size E Thread (4). An
eyelet (12) is installed at the bottom of the pouch for drainage. A keeper made of 1-inch elastic webbing
conforming to MIL-W-5664 (22) is attached to one of the closure straps.
