Lubrication
WARNING
Exposure to silicone lubricant presents a health hazard. Use gloves and eye protection.
If contact occurs, wash skin or rinse eyes. Failure to comply with this warning may lead
to injury to personnel.
NOTE
No amount of lubricant will restore good action to a dirty cam, so ensure cams are
cleaned thoroughly IAW WP 0024, prior to lubricating. If possible, wait until cams are dry
before applying lubricant. Lubricant can be applied to wet parts, but it will take longer to
dry.
In cold weather conditions, use body heat to warm the lubricant before use. For optimum
penetration, apply lubricant to cams at or above 40F (5C).
1.
Follow manufacturing instructions to prepare lubricant for use.
2.
Apply lubricant to the cam pivots and springs, and work it in until the smooth action is fully restored.
3.
Wipe off excess lubricant with a rag.
4.
Allow cams to fully dry before storing, which may take several minutes to an hour.
