c. Cleaning.
WARNING
Clean all parts in a well-ventilated
area. Avoid inhalation of solvent
fumes and prolonged exposure of
skin to cleaning solvent. Wash
exposed
skin
thoroughly.
Dry
cleaning solvent (Fed. Spec. P-D-
680) used to clean parts is potentially
dangerous
to
personnel
and
property. Do not use near open
flame or excessive heat. Flash point
of solvent is 100 to 138F. (38 to
59C.).
(1) Clean all metal parts with cleaning
solvent, Fed. Spec. P-D-680, and dry thoroughly.
(2)
Clean
electrical
parts
with
dry
compressed air and a clean cloth.
d. Inspection, Test and Repair.
(1) Test motor for shorts and other electrical
defects as prescribed in TM 5-764 and replace motor if
defective.
(2) Replace seals, springs or bearings if
there is evidence of excessive wear o deterioration.
e. Assembly.
(1) Install the stator (20, fig. 7-10) in the
shell (21) and install the setscrew (19).
(2) Install the baffle plate (18).
(3) Install the endplate (17) and secure with
lockwashers (16) and screws (15).
(4) Install the rotor (14) and fan (13) onto
the shaft, if removed.
(5) Install the bearings (11 and 12) and
spring (10) onto the shaft.
(6) Install the shaft assembly into the shell
(21).
(7) Install the endplate (9), then install the
plug (8), secure the endplate with lockwashers (7) and
screws (6).
(8) Install the key (5).
(9) Install the pulley hub (4) onto the pulley
and secure with lockwashers (3) and capscrews (2).
(10) Install the pulley (1) onto the shaft end.
f. Installation. Refer to figure 7-9 and install the
washer motor.
7-9. Extractor Motor and Hydro Sheave
a. Removal and Disassembly.
(1) Extractor Motor (Eidal Model ELT9T).
(a)
Remove
the
two
lockplate
mounting screws (1, fig. 7-11); remove lockplate (2).
(b) Disengage guard (3).
(c) Remove belt (4) off pulley.
(d)
Remove
motor
mounting
hardware. Remove nuts (5), washers (6), screws (7),
and plain washers (8). Remove motor assembly (9)
(e) Remove the bolt (10) and washer
(11) securing the pulley; remove pulley (12).
(f) Remove hub (13).
(g) Remove key (14) from shaft.
(h) Remove the bolts (15) and
washers (16) securing the sheave and hub to the motor
plate assembly; remove sheave (17) and hub (18).
(i) Remove key (19) from shaft.
(j) Remove screws (20) and washers
(21) securing the terminal box cover to the terminal box,
and remove cover (22) and box (23).
(k) Remove bushing (24).
(l) Remove fitting (25) and plug (26)
from endplate (29).
(m) Remove the fillister head screws
(27) and washers (28) securing endplate; remove
endplate (29).
(n) Disengage spring (30).
(o) Slip the bearing (31) from the
shaft.
(p) Tap gently and remove fan (32)
and rotor (33).
(q) Remove baffle plate (34).
(r) Remove the fillister head screws
(35) and washers (36) securing the endplate; remove
plate (37).
(s) Remove setscrews (38).
(t) Remove stator (39).
(u) Remove the drive screws (40) and
nameplate (41) from the field shell (42).
