b. Cleaning.
WARNING
Clean all parts in a well-ventilated
area. Avoid inhalation of solvent
fumes and prolonged exposure of
skin to cleaning solvent. Wash
exposed
skin
thoroughly.
Dry
cleaning solvent (Fed. Spec. P-D-
680) used to clean parts is potentially
dangerous
to
personnel
and
property. Do not use near open
flame or excessive heat. Flash point
of solvent is 100 to 138F. (38 to
59C.).
Clean items with cleaning solvent, Fed. Spec.
PD-680, and dry thoroughly.
c. Inspection.
(1) Inspect the housing, terminal box and
covers for cracks, chips, scores and other damage.
(2) Inspect the belts for cracks, pits and
uneven or excessive wear.
(3) Inspect the pulleys and their hubs for
burrs, deep scoring, chips and cracks.
(4) Inspect all hardware for thread damage.
(5) Inspect carrier bearing sheave hub and
components for wear.
d. Repair.
(1) The motor housing, covers, pulleys and
hubs can be repaired by filing, sanding or welding
procedures if the damage to these items is minor.
(2)
Replace
all
damaged
belts
and
hardware.
NOTE
Drive belts must be replaced as matched sets.
(3) Replace defective hydro-sheave parts as
required.
e. Assembly and Installation.
(1) Hydro Sheave Drive (edro Model EP1
20-LTU).
(a) Install ball bearing (22) in carrier
bearing (18) and secure with snaprings (21 and 20).
(b) Install new "0" ring (19) on carrier
bearing (18) and place assembled carrier bearing on
impeller housing.
(c) Install oil seal (17), needle bearing
(16) and oil seal (15) in sheave hub (13).
(d) Position a new sheave hub gasket
(14) in place on sheave hub and place assembled
sheave hub (13) on impeller housing.
(e) Secure sheave hub to impeller
housing with washers (12), screws (11), and allen head
nuts (10).
(f) Place key (9) in keyway on
hydrosheave shaft (8) and insert shaft and key in
impeller housing.
(g) Place lockwasher (7) over end of
hydrosheave shaft and install nut (6).
(h) Bend tangs on lockwasher up over
nut.
(i) Position cover plate gasket (5) and
cover plate (4) in place on carrier bearing and secure
with washers (3) and nuts (2).
(j) Refer to lubrication order (TM 10-
3510208-12) and refill hydro-sheave drive to proper oil
level.
(k) Install drain/fill plug (1).
(2) Extractor Motor (Edro Model EP120-
LTU).
(a) Install the nameplate (46, fig. 7-
12) on the field shell (47). Secure plate with four
mounting drive screws (45).
(b) Install stator (44) in field shell (47).
(c) Install setscrew (43).
(d) Install endplate (42) and secure it
to the assembly with washers (41) and fillister head
screws (40).
(e) Install baffle plate (39).
(f) Place the rotor (38) and fan (37) in
the field shell (47).
(g) Install bearing (36).
(h) lnstall spring (35).
(i) Install endplate (34) to the hydro
sheave drive end assembly and secure it with washers
(33) and fillister head screws (32).
(j) Install plug (31) and fitting (30).
(k) Install bushing (29).
(l) Install terminal box (28) and
terminal box cover (27); secure component with washers
(26) and screws (25).
(m) Install motor assembly (24).
Secure motor with plain washers (23), screws (22), plain
washers (21), and nuts (20).
(n) Fit the key (19) on the shaft.
(o) Install pulley hub (18) and pulley
sheave (17). Secure items with washers (16) and bolts
(15).
(p) Install key (14).
(q) Install pulley sheave (13) on
hydrosheave drive; secure with washers (12) and bolts
(11).
(r) Slide clamp ring (10) over end of
shaft.
(s) Install the hydro sheave drive (9)
and insert dowel pin (8) into clamping ring hole. Install
center setscrew (7).
(t) Install outer setscrews (6 and 5).
(u) Install belts (4).
