Probe, Avalanche
The aluminum, collapsible avalanche probe (Figure 19) helps locate bodies buried under snow, caused by
an avalanche. It is 8 feet long when fully extended and 13 inches when collapsed. It has a locking
mechanism to keep it fully extended. When collapsed, it fits inside the handle of the avalanche shovel.

Protector, Axe
The axe protector (Figure 20) is designed to protect the pick and adze of the Axe, Ice Type I, from
damaging other equipment from scrapes or cuts.
