INTRODUCTION
The only authorized repair on the ice screw is sharpening the tips with a metal file.
REPAIR
WARNING
Wear eye protection and gloves when using a file to sharpen the tips of equipment.
Failure to adhere to this warning may lead to injury or death to personnel.
CAUTION
Do not use a grinding wheel to sharpen the ice screws. Doing so may cause damage to
equipment.
1. Place the item firmly into the vise, using the protective jaws.
2. Use the flat file to carefully file points back to their original angles. For ice screws, orient sides and
points toward the interior of the screw.
3. Use the round file to smooth small areas, such as the throats of the screw teeth.
4. Remove the item from the vise.
