INTRODUCTION
The only authorized repair on the crampon is sharpening the tips with a metal file. Keep the front points
sharp as use will dull the points. Careful filing will sharpen the points and reduce the possibility of a slip
or fall.
REPAIR
WARNING
Wear eye protection and gloves when using a file to sharpen the tips of equipment.
Failure to adhere to this warning may lead to injury or death to personnel.
CAUTION
Do not use a grinding wheel to sharpen crampons. Doing so may cause damage to the
equipment.
1. Don protective gloves and eyewear. Place the item firmly into the vise, using the protective jaws.
2. Use a flat hand file to carefully file points back to their original angles.
