Figure 5. Winch Uninstalled (Socket Installed)
NOTE

hex nuts. Remove the two hex nuts from the cable keeper that secures the winch cable
to the outside of the reel. Retain nuts, carriage bolts and cable keeper. Pull the winch
cable from the winch reel and place cable on the floor of the CK. Do not allow the cable
to become tangled or kinked.
Winch Replacement:
_________
WARNING
Use gloves when handling winch cable.
NOTE
Two people are required for the Winch Replacement Procedure.
1. Place the winch on the floor of the CK. Place the hex screw inside the winch socket making
sure it goes through the spacer, and screw on the winch handle socket. Secure the winch
handle socket with the hex screw while holding the pinion shaft steady. Insert the winch
handle and check for the following: A clicking sound should be heard when the handle is
rotated clockwise. No clicking sound should be heard when the crank is rotated
counterclockwise. Operation other than this indicates a bad winch and should be returned or
replaced. Remove the winch handle from the socket.
NOTE
Be sure to fully secure the winch socket. The winch socket has to be fully secured in
order to hear the clicking sound when the winch is rotated clockwise.
