Step 1. Check for clogged fuel pump strainer.

Step 1. Check for loose strainer cover.
Tighten all cover screws.
Step 2. Check for loose plugs.
Tighten plugs.
Step 3. Check for broken or excessively worn shaft seals.
5. FUEL PUMP FAILS TO DELIVER FUEL TO BURNER
Step 1. Check for clogged fuel pump strainer.
Step 2. Check for clogged fuel nozzle.
Step 3. Check for reversed rotation.
Interchange any two of the external leads at the motor (para 4-43).
Step 4. Check for improper installation of fuel pump.,
Check installation. If improperly installed, remove and install pump
Step 5. Check for broken solenoid valve.
Step 6. Check for loose fuel pump drive coupling.
6. FLAME FAILS IN BURNER
Step 1. Check for excessively worn or broken fuel pump.
Step 2. Check for clogged fuel line.
Step 3. Check for clogged fuel nozzle.
Step 4. Check for burned electrodes.
Step 5. Check electrodes for proper adjustment.
7. IGNITION TRANSFORMER HAS NO SPARK
Step 1. Check transformer wiring for open or shorted circuit.
Step 2. Check for disconnected transformer-to-cable assembly.
Step 1. Check for loose transformer-to-burner cable assembly.
Seat cable firmly and securely in transformer cover (para 4-30).
9. SMOKE ESCAPING AROUND BOILER BOX COVER
Step 1. Check for deteriorated or excessively worn gasket.
10. WATER OVERHEATS
Step 1. Check pressure and temperature control for proper operation (para 6-10).
11. WATER HEATS INCONSISTENTLY
Step 1. Check firebox for carbon deposits.
Remove boiler box cover (para 4-32) and clean smokebox.
12. BLOWER AND FUEL PUMP MOTOR NOISY
Step 1. Check for excessively worn bearings.
